Flats Fishing Fun with Southeastern Sportfishing Company
Chandeleur Islands - St. Bernard, LA
The bite has been steady this week out at the Chandeleur Islands, and the flats are alive with action. Clear water and light winds made for ideal sight-fishing conditions, giving anglers plenty of shots at tailing redfish and cruising speckled trout. Early mornings have been the most productive, with topwater lures and soft plastics drawing aggressive strikes across the shallow flats.
As the sun rises higher, switching to subsurface baits or live shrimp under popping corks keeps the rods bending. The grass beds and sandy potholes are holding good numbers of fish, and the redfish are pushing up tight in just inches of water. Whether you’re wading or casting from the skiff, the Chandeleur Islands continue to deliver that classic shallow-water fishing experience the area is known for.
Southeastern Sportfishing Company has a few open dates coming up, so now’s a great time to plan a trip and enjoy some world-class flats fishing on these legendary islands.
